This one’s for the girls!

Get away to a place where you don’t need to speak français to order authentic French cuisine, every scene is a photo-op and memories are shaped like red Georgia clay. Coweta County is curiously delightful for a weekend with friends.

Friday

Dinner at The Cellar & The Bays

Kick off the weekend with dinner at The Cellar, a cozy yet elegant restaurant known for its upscale Southern fare. The Fried Pickles with curried mustard are quite a big “dill,” so we recommend starting there. For your entrée, the Cellar Shrimp and Grits with tasso cream sauce and the Pan-Seared Catfish are local favorites. If you’re craving more turf than surf, you cannot go wrong with the Cellar Signature Ribeye. But no matter what you select, their extensive wine selection will provide the perfect pairing for any dish.

After dinner, visit The Cellar’s casual venue, The Bays. With a large bar, two patios and plenty of games (Giant Jenga, anyone?), there’s abundant space to sit back and catch up with your gal pals. Live music is a staple here so check their website to see who’s playing.

Cocktails at The Pharmacy

Wind down the evening with a nightcap at Newnan’s very own speakeasy. Just steps from The Cellar and The Bay, The Pharmacy is a secret worth sharing. It’s sultry ambiance, jazzy acoustics and craft cocktails harken back to the Prohibition Era.

Fortunately, no laws need to be broken in order to have a good time.

Saturday

Breakfast at Brown St. Bodega

What’s cookin? Something really yummy lookin’. Brown St. Bodega is an especially tasty way to start the day. They have all your breakfast faves (bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, anyone?) plus some exciting new flavs (ahem, lavender lemon bread & almond biscotti).

And don’t you worry, there’s no need to swing through Starbies. They’ve got coffee, too, and plenty of it!

Morning Activity: Pottery at Mudhaven Pottery Studio

Put a creative spin on your weekend by signing up for a pottery workshop at Mudhaven Pottery Studio. Just bring yourself and your friends: the workshop includes all the supplies you’ll need to learn basic wheel-throwing techniques and create up to three pieces (Patrick Swayze not included). Once you’ve crafted your masterpiece, select your favorite glaze color and Mudhaven will take care of the rest.

Please note: Pottery pieces will be ready for pickup in 6-8 weeks, just in time for your next girls’ trip!

Lunch at Lisa’s Crêperie

Cue the crêpes at Lisa’s Crêperie. This French café serves up authentic crêpes that we can only describe as tres bien! Enjoy classic combos like peanut butter and banana or a Caprese crêpe filled with tomatoes, goat cheese, spinach, pesto and a balsamic glaze.

Whether you prefer savory or need to satisfy your sweet tooth, there’s a crêpe for every occasion.

Afternoon Activity: The Walking Dead Tour of Senoia

Senoia, or rather, Woodbury, as it’s known in The Walking Dead, has been a primary filming location for the show since the series’ third season. Peer behind the scenes with a guided tour around downtown Senoia. You’ll see iconic locales like the Alexandria Safe-Zone, The Governor’s Residence and the Train Tracks.

Many guides have worked as extras or crew members on set; their first-hand stories liven up this undead tour to frightening levels of fun!

Dinner at Bistro Hilary

Toast to your last night together at Bistro Hilary, a sophisticated dining spot offering French-inspired cuisine. You’ll be transported to Paris when you taste a bite of Coquilles St. Jacques and cut into a plate of beef bourguignon. For dessert, you simply must try the chocolate mousse with a scoop of the ice cream du jour.

There isn’t a bad seat in the house, but the front patio is especially Instagrammable

Sunday

Brunch at Senoia Coffee & Cafe

This charming café nestled in the heart of Senoia has everything to start your morning off right. Savory breakfast lovers will enjoy the avocado toast and quiche. If you’re apt to wake up with a sweet tooth, you can’t miss out on the peanut butter banana toast and a big, fluffy cinnamon roll. Or order the waffles and bacon for the best of both worlds!

Let’s not forget plenty of freshly brewed coffee, made just as you like it.

Late Morning Activity: Shopping in Senoia and Newnan

After brunch, spend the afternoon in downtown Senoia, then head over to Newnan for some of the best local shopping this side of Atlanta. Boutiques and specialty stores dot the streets of both downtowns and they’re all just so gosh darn charming.

Who says you need just one souvenir anyway? We hope you packed an extra suitcase!

Thirsty for a libations adventure? Let’s mix things up and toast to new flavors!

Sip, Savor, and Explore

Shaken, stirred, chilled or with a twist, there are so many ways to enjoy Coweta County! Garnish your day by visiting a place where Southern Comfort isn’t only found in cocktails, it’s a way of life.

Morning Libations

Senoia Coffee & Cafe

Your morning doesn’t start until you’ve had a cuppa… or perhaps three. Sample a trio of your choice of coffees at Senoia Coffee and Café with their signature coffee flight. That’s right, a flight without the alcohol yet still plenty of punch. Each mini-pour gives you the opportunity to taste your new brew obsession without all the jitters.

If you still need your caffeine fix, order a full-sized coffee to enjoy with their large selection of breakfast sandwiches, pastries and toasts.

Senoia Farmers’ Market

Stroll through summertime with a cocktail in hand. The fragrant florals, flaky pastries and vibrant booths of Senoia Farmers’ Market will transport you to a scene right out of a movie. And there’s no better accompaniment to the moment quite like a mimosa made with freshly squeezed juice. Or stop by Nic and Norman’s Bloody Mary booth for a bit of hair of the dog.

Doc Brown’s Bourbon Creams

As Georgia’s only seed-to-still distillery, Doc Brown’s takes their bourbon as seriously as their business. And the best part is, you can enjoy a swig (or two) without ever leaving the comfort of your home. Their Bourbon Creams, available for purchase online and shipped to most states, are a rich and creamy complement to your coffee or tea.

The Coffee Bourbon Cream is a year-round favorite and the Peppermint Mocha Bourbon Cream makes every cup a cup of cheer.

Beer

Abide Brewing Company

Stop by Newnan’s first microbrewery, Abide Brewing, where good times are always on tap. Enjoy the perfect pint alongside toe-tapping live music, fan-favorite rotating food trucks and plenty of seasonal sips.

The Reserve @ Line Creek Brewing

Where the good times and great beer flow, discover your new favorite hangout at Line Creek Brewing. Specializing in high gravity and barrel-aged brews, their selection will satisfy any beer connoisseur.

Can’t decide what to try from one of the 24 taps? Order a flight with Newnan Light, Ice King, Talk Derby and Turn Bock Time to try out some of our favorites.

Senoia Beer Company

A hopping good time is guaranteed when you visit Senoia Beer Company. Hoppy, malty, sour or sweet, the brewery offers flavors that cater to all taste buds. Bring your best friends, pets included, and settle in for music on the patio.

Be sure to try the Mango Slushy Seltzer and Piña Colada Wheat Beer next time you stop in!

Pearl & Pine Brewery

This latest addition to the Senoia beer scene bottles Southern elegance with their exciting brews, set against a charmingly rustic backdrop. Pearl and Pine boasts 12 beers, ranging from lagers and hazy IPAs to inspired stouts and kettle sours, not to mention.one particularly tropical seltzer. Each pour comes straight from their airless tanks until the moment it reaches your glass. No air means no oxidation, so your pint will always taste incredible.

Order a crowler (a growler in a can for the uninitiated) to enjoy back at home or kick back and stay awhile on one of their two dog-friendly patios.

Ace Beer Growlers

With 30 taps of craft draft and shelves lined with lagers, stouts, sours and more, Ace Growler has a beer for every palate.

The choice is yours: Fill a growler (or two) with fresh local hops or snag a few six-packs. Either way, you’ll be the best guest at the barbecue. Dizzy from all the decisions? Their knowledgeable and helpful staff will ensure you leave with a brew that’s right for you.

Wine

The Classic Market

Travel the world with a wine flight from The Classic Market. Their wide selection of globally sourced wines is available for sampling in store, sipping by the glass and savoring at home. If you prefer to keep it homegrown, their collection of wines from six Georgia wineries offers an authentic taste of the region. At just $6 for six one-ounce pours, Classic Market makes brushing up on your som skills fun and affordable.

Il Porto Di Venezia

Family-owned and Venetian-inspired, ll Porto Di Venezia is an Italian restaurant that floats you right to the canals of Venice without ever having to book a flight. Their robust wine selection ranges from elegant Rieslings and fruity zins to bold red blends and spicy cabernets. Add a bit of the bubbly to your day with a glass of prosecco or Champagne. There’s so much to savor, and we haven’t even gotten started on the food.

Next, head to the Historic Coweta County Courthouse, a gorgeous 1904 Classic Revival building anchoring the town square. If court is in session, the courtrooms and jury rooms are off limits, but the building houses historic imagery and salvaged pieces from the 2010 restoration worth checking out.

Senoia

Once you’re in Senoia, take time to explore along Main Street, home to plenty of local restaurants and boutiques. A trip here isn’t complete without going on a film and TV tour.
